Jessica Anderson, the 2016 Montana Teacher of the Year, is a science teacher at Powell County High School in Deer Lodge, MT. Along with her face-to-face classroom, she teaches oceanography to Montana students through the Montana Digital Academy (MTDA). She was chosen nationally as one of eleven BetterLesson Blended Learning Master Teachers (www.betterlesson.com/blended), is a PBS Lead Digital Innovator (top 30), a state finalist for the 2015 Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST), and has received the Gold Star Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is the co-founder/moderator of #MTedchat, a participant-driven education chat on Twitter. Over the past nine years, her classroom has evolved from traditional to a self-paced, blended-gamified environment. She has presented on gamification and blended learning at several conferences included the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) conference and the International Society of Technology in Education conference (ISTE).
